Emotional Freedom Therapy Techniques (EFT)
For Martial Arts and Martial Artists.
Leamington Spa Warwickshire UK
Hi, If you have found this page you are ether curious or you are a martial artist of some school or system. Maybe: Judo, Hapkido, Jujitsu, Taekwondo, Kung Fu or some other combat or self defence system. Boxing, Wrestling or maybe a weapons system.
So what is this page about? Well, I have been involved in the arts for a while now, (first started to play when I was around four, at Whitnash Judo Club) as are my brother (Hapkido and CQB) my father (Judo and Jujitsu) and my grandfather (Boxing and Catch-as-Catch-Can wrestling and Yoga). It seams to run in our family.
I no longer teach publicly, just do the odd private student or get called in for special events, however I do still play and practice much of what I have learnt down the years.
(My favourite mistress is still Sung Moo Kwan Hapkido)
I am also a highly skilled therapist, and an even better personal change specialist. Advanced Emotional Freedom Techniques, Neuro Linguistic Programming, Hypnosis and Common Sense. Are my chosen weapons these days, apart from a good knife?
I have lived life to the full and experienced all of its pleasures, well almost, still got two or three to go, and most of its pain, suffering and problems. Been frightened, scared, worried, stressed, broke, poor, rich, wealthy and very comfortable. Been married, divorced, had relationships and affairs, known family and friends and loved ones and lost them.
I have also been beaten, dropped, stomped on, ill, injured and crippled (for a while).
As well as experiencing, joy, passion, love, exhilaration, ecstasy and a host of personally designed states.
Guess I have been around. The point of the above is to let you know that I'am like you, with maybe just a lot more experience in martial arts and self defence, and maybe some aspects of life.
As most who take up an art are frightened, feel insecure or inferior in some way, why else would you do it? It can be very difficult later on to ask for help from someone. It can be difficult to discover what you need to do in order to gain the emotional skills and control that all the masters say you must have.
An old Hapkido master once said. "If you argue with your wife, your Hapkido is no good" Yes I have had bad Hapkido, for a while.
Most of the personal self defence and battles and conflicts we face in life are not with a mugger or rapist or a street rat. The people who we engage in combat with almost daily are the people around us.
Does you art teach you this?
Financial, Emotional, Mental, Spiritual, Psychic and the most important of all Self, Self Defence?
If not, you are not learning self defence or a martial art that is truly effective in todays world.
Just a thought.
I will be doing some articles, maybe some blogs and podcasts on these thoughts soon.
Until then if you are a martial artist and are having difficulties that you feel I may be able to help you with.
